I had a great time in Jeshica's apartment tonight!

I am really thankful to get to know her and Maki for sure~
all of us hold hands together and shared about the thankful things we had this year before the thanksgiving dinner, and we had a lot of fun~

this is my very first thanksgiving here..and...
this is my life in America~
we had a talk over different cultutres and festivals...

the questions people would ask when you first met a person here is:
1)How are you?
2)Where are you from?
3)What is your major?
4) Do you live on campus?
OK, so there are a lot of people started asking me,
"why people from Hong Kong would never say that they are from China?"
"Is Hong Kong a country?"
or, they will ask me a lot of questions about China that I don't know...
I finally figured out that it is a cool way to explain like that~
"Hong Kong is technically not a separate country as it is under the sovereignty of China, however, it has a special political and economic system, it’s own Olympic team, currency and stamps. Our cultures are different. I would not deny that I am a Chinese, Hong Kong does belong to China, but I would still say that I am from Hong Kong and Hong Kong is different from China."
I am proud to be a Chinese and I am proud to be a Hong Kongers. However, they are two different identities to me~ |
